Curious Apriority - “Percy”
Percy is the first horse that I allowed myself to dream with after losing Darcy. He is both a tremendous athlete and a mischief maker. He has a talent for making me laugh at exactly the moments I need most, and he’s reminded me that this is supposed to be fun and life isn’t to be taken too seriously.
Beneath all that personality is an incredibly genuine horse with a lot of heart. Percy is clever, athletic, bold, and always willing to try. He’s approaching each new question with confidence as his education grows. We are currently competing through the lower levels of eventing with the long-term goal of competing through Preliminary.
Whatever level we ultimately reach, Percy is teaching me to have the courage to dream about what comes next.
Jammie Dodger - “Perk”
Perk is the sensitive soul of the barn. He is intelligent, expressive, and never shy about having an opinion. He is also quite possibly the nicest horse I have ever owned. If there is a limit to what he can accomplish, I have a feeling it will be his rider (me) rather than his ability.
Perk has the kind of talent that makes it easy to dream big. He has a natural aptitude for dressage, paired with the scope and carefulness to be just as exciting over fences. But he has also taught me that talent is only part of the equation. He asks me to listen, be patient, and to earn his trust and confidence rather than expect it.
Our goals are to earn my USDF bronze medal together in dressage while continuing to develop him in the jumper ring, taking him as far as his talent and happiness are willing to go.
Perk is teaching me that progress isn’t always measured by how quickly you move forward. Sometimes, it’s measured by how well you’ve learned to listen along the way.
